We are in the midst of car camping through out Colorado. As we spend two weeks visiting different areas of Colorado we shake our heads about why we didn't spend more time in the mountains when we lived in Denver. So far we have visited Colorado Springs area (Meuller State Park - very nice!), Sand Dunes (incredible), Durango (hot but relaxing), Silverton, Ouray, and Telluride. We've done three memorable hikes so far. The first was up the Dunes early in the morning - we were the first ones to the top that day. We got some great photos where there weren't any footprints. Then we hiked to Crater Lake starting at the Molas Pass near Silverton. It was an 11 mile hike and didn't seem eventful until the last hour of hiking and we got caught in two hail and thunder storms. We are still drying our clothes from that! Today we just hiked up to Bridal Veil Falls and Bear Creek Falls in Telluride. Marc has been wanting to do that for 10 years!
