Our second visitors of the year overlapped Audrey's visit by a few hours. Stephanie dropped Audrey at the Rabat Airport while Marc picked up Stephanie and Jeremy from the Casa aiport the night before. Stephanie and Marc were in the Peace Corps together and we visited Stephanie and Jeremy in Austria this past summer. They visited the sites of Rabat the few few days and the traveled to Fes. We drove up to Fes (and stayed at a new Riad) and met up with them. We then drove up to Chefchouen. It turned out that it had rained more this season in the Chefchouen area ever in the last 50 years. It rained about half of our visit there but we were prepared.
Stephanie has been eyeing a particular painting of a door in Chefchouen for the past year and half. Everytime we go there, the artist's studio is closed. This time we went to another studio and saw a painting that was very similar to what we were looking for. We decided to patiently buy it. We could never tell if we were being ripped off but we now own a painting of a Chefchouen painting that we will have hanging in our house.
Stephanie, Jeremy and Marc went on a hike with a Guide. We quickly realized why the end of February is a hot time to go hiking. It rained about every 15 minutes sometimes there was a downpour. The guide was very patient and his English was good. The farther you walk away from Chefchouen the more he pushes the story of the marijuana in the region. We hiked to a small village and then back - it was a good 5 hour hike.
