Happy Thanksgiving ... in Paris

We flew out to Paris for the 4 day weekend. The weekend coincided with Thanksgiving and Eid ... very nice timing. Last year we only got Thanksgiving day off. We flew from Rabat at 7:00 am and arrived in Paris at 11:00 and took a train and met Marc's Parents in the 16th Arrondisement. We had a wonderful time, ate great food, and heard great stories of Priscilla and Dick's adventures in Paris. They lived in this area from 1965 to 1971. They enjoy coming back to the area whenever they visit Paris. It was a lot of fun seeing the places they always talk about. Some of the highlights were learning about Marc as a child: where he was baptized, where his diapers were bought, where he played in the park and where he lived for the first two years.

The Pink Apartment. There has been a painting of a pink apartment that has been in my parents house for 40 years. My mother came out of church one Sunday in the St. Germain de Pres, one block from where the video was taken, and started walking home. She noticed this painter was painting the pink apartment where she was staying. She bought the painting and it has been in their house ever since. As you can see from the video it is still pink.

We arrived on Thanksgiving day and had dinner at the foot of Montmatre with Caroline and Nicolas who lived near Dick and Priscilla in Montpelier. We enjoyed going to two flea markets. We decided to go to a movie since there aren't movie theaters in English in Morocco. Stephanie enjoyed shopping the streets. Marc enjoyed taking runs in the Bois de Bologne. Audrey Pomeroy (cousin once removed) who lives in France came to visit for the last night of our visit.

Auberge Mouton Blanc: My parents have hanging in their house a framed hand written menu from the Mouton Blanc Restaurant. It is something that has always been a part of the house growing up and I've never been to the Restaurant. Dad gave me a photo copy of the same menu and I had it hanging in the kitchen in Denver. The Mouton Blanc has changed owners a few times but it is in the same location and still serves good food but much more expensive now! My parents try to go here when ever they visit Paris.

I saw all of the pictures on facebook, but I loved the videos here. I really loved the pink apartment building.
