Madrid!

We drove off Thursday morning from Nerja after trying to sleep in. I think that we'll be doing a lot of trying to catchup on our sleep the first few weeks. We drove north to Madrid. We've found the driving very relaxing compared to Morocco. Everyone drives between the lines and there aren't as many surprises as we are used to in Rabat.

We stopped at a small town,Villarta de San Juan, but no one was in town! Was it a siesta? So we drove for another hour and stopped at a rest stop. There was hardly anyone there but the waitress there encouraged us to sit down and we ordered too much food. Swordfish and salad. We drove to northern Madrid to the airport. We had been worried about parking in Madrid with Morocan Plates so we parked at the airport and it looked to be the right price to have someone watching our car while we visited Madrid for a week.

We took the metro into the center of the city and easily found Martha and Philip's place. It is just a few meters from Sol and is a great location for seeing Madrid. Martha and Philip took us out for drinks and Tapas at a few places that night. We've quickly noticed that it is much hotter here (more than 95 degrees) than anywhere we've been so far. We are glad we packed a fan for the rest of the 8 week trip.

Where was everybody in the Spanish city? It sounds like fun. Send pictures. Have fun with mom and dad. I feel like I'm with you on the trip- I should read the blog more often.
