Azemmour Trip

Eid Mbaruk Said! Happy Ramanda! We had a three day weekend so we decided to take an overnight trip to Azemmour (about two hours south of Rabat). We visited two years ago but didn't spend much time. We stayed in a very nice Riad and walked along the streets as everyone celebrated the end of Ramadan. We quickly learned that no restaurants weren't open that evening. With Stephanie being pregnant we didn't feel comfortable buying the meat sandwiches from the guys on the side of the road. We ended up buying some bread, cheese and bananas because of our poor foresight.

The next day we walked around Azemmour and then went to the beach. It is a very nice, clean beach with not a lot people (especially in the morning). We then went to El Jadida and had a fish fry (our first meal at a restaurant during the day in a month!). We then wondered around the Portuguese fort. This included going to the Portuguese Cisterne (someone told us there is only one other like it in the world in Istanbul). It has a weird reflective property with water on the ground so that light is reflecting is beautiful ways. We also bought some Moroccan lamps for our new house and then went home.
